New guidance for private investigators

The Queensland Government has released new guidance to help private investigators prevent domestic and family violence (DFV) and avoid facilitating coercive control by persons using violence against victim-survivors when performing the functions of a private investigator.

Please review the document and assess your current practices to ensure compliance with the provided standards and best practices.

While adoption of the guidance is voluntary, failure to consider DFV risks could impact your suitability to hold a licence under the Security Providers Act 1993.

Cultural acknowledgement

We pay our respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ancestors of this land, their spirits and their legacy. The foundations laid by these ancestors—our First Nations peoples—give strength, inspiration and courage to current and future generations towards creating a better Queensland.
